According to the South Korean “Asia Daily”, the South Korean Bureau of Statistics reported on February 21 that the number of manufacturing employment in South Korea in January this year was 4.432 million, a decrease of 35000 compared to the same period last year. This is the first decrease in manufacturing employment since January 2021 (-13000 people).
It is worth noting that in January this year, the number of manufacturing workers under the age of 60 decreased by 126000 compared to the same period last year. Among them, there was a decrease of 46000 people between the ages of 15 and 29, and a decrease of 26000 people in their thirties. The combined scale of the two exceeded 70000 people. In addition, the number of employed people in their 40s (-35000 people) and 50s (-19000 people) has also decreased to varying degrees compared to last year.
